太 極 拳 圖 說 (The Illustrated Canon of Chen Family Tai Chi Ch'uan or Illustrations of Chen Style Taijiquan), written by Chen Xin, was written in twelve years from Guangxu Wushen to Republic of China Yiwei (the eighth year of the Republic of China). This book uses Yi Li (Tai Chi Yin and Yang) to explain Chen style Tai Chi movements. The whole book is divided into the first volume, including 40 Illustrated Explanations of Yin-Yang and Taiji, 8 Illustrated Explanations of Taijiquan, 12 Illustrated Theories of Meridians and Viscera, and 11 Discourses on Taijiquan Classics; 12 Forms); Volume 2 of Taijiquan Poses, including 6 to 8 Forms (24 Forms); Volume 3, Covering 9 to 13 Forms of Taijiquan (30 Forms); Appendices, Chen Family Forms and Biography. During childhood, Chen Xin was required to study literature while his brother Chen Yao practiced martial arts. With his young attendant, Chen Xin has heard and seen fumigation, so he can have a glimpse of boxing skills; with decades of literary knowledge, he has made an unprecedented pioneering work by using Yi Li to understand boxing principles.

《陳氏太極拳圖說》，陳鑫著，自光緒戊申至民國乙未（民國八年）共十二年，其書始成。 是書以易理（太極陰陽）詮釋陳氏太極拳動作拳理。 全書分卷首，含陰陽太極圖說40篇、太極拳圖說8篇、經脈臟腑圖歌論12篇、太極拳經論11篇；太極拳勢卷一，含十三勢分節、拳勢一到五（12式）；太極拳勢卷二，含拳勢六到八（24式）；太極拳勢卷三，含拳勢九到十三（30式）；附錄，陳氏家乘、小傳。 陳鑫自幼授命學文，其兄陳垚習武。陳鑫以其少小侍側，耳聞目見薰蒸，得以管窺拳藝一斑；加以數十年學文之底，故有以易理通拳理，發前人所未有之創舉。
