Who Can: Illustrating Education for Movement in the Primary Grades

Title

Who Can: Illustrating Education for Movement in the Primary Grades

Author

Liselott Diem

Description

Accompanied by a descriptive text, this illustrated guide to movement education for grades one through six provides drawings and examples of movement exercises using balls, wands, ropes, balance beams, ladders, and boxes. The objective is to stimulate awareness of the body as a wholly integrated being. The picture series offers a selection of basic activity forms with variations and progressions, and requires only simple equipment that can be used in and out of a gymnasium. Special emphasis is given to tasks of developing basic movement skills and building a strong and flexible body. The drawings depict only the decisive or critical phase of each movement, allowing the teacher to formulate activity problems or tasks to attain set objectives.
